Hundreds of migrants with links to terrorism are attempting to enter the United States.
“Individuals with potential terrorism connections continue to attempt to enter the Homeland at both the U.S.-Mexico and U.S.-Canada borders and also through the immigration system,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated in its 2025 Homeland Threat Assessment.
More of these migrants were encountered at the U.S.-Canada border (283) than at the U.S.-Mexico border (139) in the fiscal year up to July. The assessment predicted that Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) will “continue to exploit the complex security environment at the U.S. border to smuggle drugs and migrants to and across our border” in the coming year.
Mexico-based TCOs, including cartels and human smuggling organizations, are also expected to continue smuggling illegals across the U.S.-Mexico border. The paper also warned that Honduran drug trafficking cells have begun distributing Sinaloa Cartel-sourced fentanyl since January 2022.
“Prior to 2022, these traffickers primarily distributed heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine,” the report noted, suggesting Honduran criminals are creating a new market for Sinaloa Cartel fentanyl.
Meanwhile, New York City has witnessed a significant rise in crimes reportedly committed by newly arrived migrants. These include instances of assaults on NYPD officers and a recent stabbing in Times Square.
Moreover, a man was stabbed at a migrant shelter located across the Big Apple’s Central Park, according to local law enforcement. The New York Police Department (NYPD) was alerted to the situation at 31 Central Park North at approximately 11:30 a.m. following a 911 phone call reporting the assault. Officers arriving at the scene discovered a 24-year-old male victim suffering stab wounds to the back and abdomen. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Vice President Harris has previously argued in favor of defunding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a sign that such issues are unlikely to recede if she wins the presidential race in November. She also supported curbing ICE’s funding, putting an end to ICE detainers and providing citizenship to 11 million illegals.
“Throughout my career, I have made it clear that law enforcement should use their time and resources to keep communities safe, not act as federal immigration agents,” she wrote on an American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) questionnaire in 2019, which asked if she would “commit to ending the use of ICE detainers.”
She boasted that, as California’s Attorney General, she “issued a bulletin on Dec. 4, 2012, informing all California law enforcement that they did not have to comply with ICE detainers”– a sanctuary measure that results in foreign criminal suspects and convicts wanted by ICE being released among the public after leaving jail or prison, instead of being handed over for deportation.
In addition to removing ICE’s detainer powers, Harris told the ACLU she would starve the agency of resources, boasting: “I was one of the first Senators after President Trump was elected to advocate for a decrease in funding to ICE.”
Referring to legislation she introduced as a senator, she added: “As President, I will fight to pass my DONE (Detention Oversight Not Expansion) Act into law, which would increase oversight of ICE detention facilities, slash detention by at least 50 percent, and halt funding for the construction or expansion of new facilities.”
Harris also said she would “close private immigration detention centers” and “fight to pass immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million plus illegal aliens living in our communities and contributing to our economy.” Critics note that she reiterated this promise in several places throughout the questionnaire.
